    Remembering a friend...

    Dear Friends

As some of you may know, Daniel DeLaVergne, co-founder and president of Penstock Productions and Kayak Journal, was in a horrific accident on Tuesday afternoon. N.C. Authorities believe the co-founder of the popular Lunch Video Magazine series was sleeping in a train tunnel in order to film the location at sunrise, and that he awoke to the rumble of an engine and was unable to get out of the way. The conductor reported he saw a figure trying to avoid the train. DeLaVergne, 29, suffered massive head trauma and reportedly lost part of his arm in the impact. He was taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville where he was pronounced dead Wednesday morning. Efforts were made to save his life by a crew of valiant paramedics and as many as half a dozen surgeons. However, the brain injuries proved to be to severe, and he will be taken off of life support this evening.

The service will be Friday night at the Asheville Pizza Company at 8pm. They wanted to allow time for people to get in to NC., and then the funeral will be held in Tampa, FL, Daniel's hometown over the weekend.

In regard to a memorial fund, his parents have asked that donations be made to the Green River Access Fund. They say that this would have been his wish.
    Donations can be mailed to:

    Green River Access Fund
    765 Crest Rd
    Flat Rock, NC 28773

In the meantime, go out and paddle, do something you've always wanted to do. Daniel was doing it, and doing it well. His vision and creativity was inspiring, and his legacy and spirit will continue on.

    Sincerely,

    Friends and Admirers of Daniel

I have known Daniel since he was on the Riot bus back in the day. I could not believe it this morning when I got the phone call. Thanks for everything Daniel..... R.I.P.
