Lately there has been some buzz about SkirtworkS spray skirts.

Who are they?

What are the differences in their skirts as opposed to others?

And lately, has anyone had the chance to see or try one?

Well as we all know, good things come to those who wait. Finally after much anticipation, here are some pictures of the SkirtworkS Aramid Tough Rim Preferred Fit. Built for the SCUD and to my specs, it fits like a glove!







Notice that the Aramid covers the areas that are most vulnerable to wear and tear. The seams are taped so tightly that nothing is going to penetrate through them. There are no gaps between the rubber rand and the materials where you can see the adhesive used to put them together. This particular skirt is easy to put on yet providing one of the tightest fits around the cockpit rim that I have seen. Needless to say I am not about to break my fingers or have an aneurism putting the skirt on the cockpit.

Another thing that I noticed right off the bat was that the grab loop did not feel as if it were going to be ripped off as I pulled excessively on it. On other skirts I have had, that are made in China, this feel really flimsy and does nobody any good if they can't get out in time due to a grab loop failure. Trust me this does happen and you do not want to experience this in the unfortunate case you need out of the boat.

Updates for Mini Mystic's in the U.S.

The container of Mini Mystic DEMO'S are due in port at Seattle on Feb. 20th, 2008. The container must then go through customs, which could take several days.

You could expect the DEMO's to be getting to agents hands as early as the first of March. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED! FULL RETAIL Mini Mystics are due to start shipping at the end of March. Giving you about a month between your first demo and actually getting your purchase.

By the end of March, give or take a few days, inventory on all boats should be back to normal here in the U.S.

A New Skirt in Town!

SkirtworkS spray skirts.

If you have not heard of them... you will.

Bringing you premium whitewater skirts that are not the run of the mill.

You are asking yourself, what could you possible do different to the spray skirt?

UNIQUE to their designs. Here are the differences.

They changed the rands. They are using an all natural UV protected rands, this means the sun light does not effect it . It will not break down and crack the way sinthetic rubber does. It also goes back to natural form better. It is truely just better rubber!! Also they put their own rands together to insure they are properly sealed. Most rands you see today are a hard synthetic rubber based rand, theirs are not!! This creates a better seal.

Also, in building skirts for years, they have noticed paddle marks, so they added more Aramid to the casings. Their casing are 4" to help accomadate paddle marks!! Which inturn means they had to cut down the deck, but still allow for the stretch, that took some time!!

All of their handles are double sewn and boxed. They chose Fire Orange so it is more visible even under water!! When someone is in trouble they feel this may help. The handle that they decided to go with is a heavier handle which holds the handle open for a better grip.

They have noticed that some companies use a material called diamond faced neoprene. It is a ruffer texture which tends to scar from paddle marks and even where the tunnel rubs the deck from side to side motion. They chose to use 3.5 mil neoprene because it has the most stretch for comfort and performance. The nylon is laminated on both sides. It has been their experience that nylon laminated decks can endure more abuse.

Once you pick up and hold their skirts you'll feel and see the difference.
